No one wants to think about death or what will happen after they have gone. However, the responsibility of winding up your affairs can be eased for your family with careful Will planning.
Some people think that it is not necessary to make a Will and that their estate will automatically pass to their relatives. Often, particularly in the case of an unmarried, this is not the case and matters can often be complicated by not having a Will.
Regardless of how much you have to leave, it is important to set out legally who you want to inherit. Also, if you have children from a previous relationship, it is always recommended that you make a Will, so that their position is protected.

Probate and Administration of an Estate
When a loved one dies it is sometimes daunting knowing where to start.
As Solicitors, we are able to assist you every step of the way whether it is just helping you get a Grant of Representation or taking on the whole responsibility of winding up an estate on your behalf. We can also take on partially completed probates if you have found that matters have become more complicated than first thought.
Most of our probate matters are now calculated on a fixed fee basis so that you know, from the outset, the total amount of costs involved. This means that you do not have the worry of being charged for every call, letter or meeting. We can deal with probates from start to finish with prices beginning at £3,000.00 plus VAT (not including the usual probate costs such as Court fees). If the matter is very complicated and we cannot offer a fixed fee arrangement we will tell you at the outset.
We can obtain a Grant of Probate for a fixed fee of £600.00 + VAT or, if you would like us to deal with the remaining administration of the estate, we can deal with probates from start to finish for approximately 1% of the gross value of the estate + VAT (not including the usual probate costs such as Court fees). Please note, however, if the matter is very complicated, we will not be able to offer a fixed fee arrangement and we will tell you at the outset.
